BA Geography and Politics
The dual honours degree in Geography and Politics focuses on political geography ('politics in its spatial dimension') alongside politics and international relations. The course combines the application of concepts, theories and methods used in the study of politics to analyse political ideas, institutions and practices, with an understanding of how geographical concepts and skills can be used in suggesting possible solutions for real world problems and in the evaluation of solutions and policies proposed by others.
The Departments of Politics and Geography are among the top-ranked departments in their disciplines for both research and teaching. We aim to give students an in-depth understanding of politics and political issues, alongside stimulating, well-structured courses across the span of contemporary geography. Our students gain a range of personal transferable skills, including communication and presentation skills, working in groups, writing reports and essays, gathering information and planning projects.
