Taught Masters - MA in Governance and Public Policy
The MA in Governance and Public Policy provides a fascinating insight into the challenges of governing in the twenty-first century. It is based upon the notion of theoretically-informed but policy relevant research and is therefore geared to those who might like to pursue a career within politics or the broader political sphere. At the heart of this degree is a focus on the transition from 'government' to 'governance' and the implications this shift has for how we understand (inter alia) the capacity of the state, the role of politicians, the expectations of the public and the balance between rights and responsibilities when it comes to collective benefits.
The MA in Governance and Public Policy is designed to test students through a range of teaching formats that include guest lectures and case study exercises. As a whole, the course provides students with a number of
conceptual tools and practical skills that will provide a strong basis for a career in the policy-making arena.
