Absences
If you have good reason to be absent from any lectures, labs or tutorials for illness or personal reasons such as family bereavement, you MUST inform the department of your absence via a Special Circumstances Form, you can get one of these from G12 or from the SSID website.
You may also like to advise the year tutor and module leaders of any modules you are likely to miss in your absence. They may be able to give you some notes or offer advice on reading materials so you don't miss out. If your absence is longer then 7 days or if it has affected any assessment or examination you MUST obtain an official Medical Certificate from your doctor or the University Health Service. The completed form should be returned to the Hicks Student Support Office (G12) as soon as possible. Only if this is done can we make allowance for missed coursework or practical work, a simple email is not enough to take your special circumstances into account.
