Observatory Rules and Safety

  • Before venturing onto the roof, all users must read and comply with the current Health & Safety procedures for using the roof and observatory: consult the relevant documentation in the "Hicks Observatory Health & Safety Folder" which is located in the Astronomy Laboratory.

General Information

  • The dome will be opened and closed by a member of staff.
  • To rotate the dome: hold the handles on the side of the dome and pull!
  • Make sure that the telescope is pointing through the middle of the shutter opening throughout the course of your observing session.
