Eric Olson
BA Reed, PhD Syracuse.
Eric Olson grew up in the American state of Washington. He discovered philosophy by accident as an undergraduate, after starting out in the sciences. He wrote his first book, The Human Animal, during a period of unemployment following his studies. After a time his luck changed and he moved to a lectureship at Cambridge, where he stayed for eight years. He came to Sheffield in 2003, and is now a professor.
Eric´s research is in metaphysics and the philosophy of mind. Topics of particular interest include personal identity, the ontology of material objects, time, and death.
