Rainbow

Lecturer: Sean Cordell

Half Module, 10 credits

Outline:

This course will introduce students to some of the fundamental issues in Philosophy of Religion. We will explore the nature of God and the relationship between faith and reason. We will examine the core influential arguments for the existence of God, contemporary debates about the compatibility of religion and science and the connection between morality and religion. Students will be taught how to critically assess arguments, testing for soundness and validity. This course will encourage students to critically reflect upon key issues in religion and metaphysics and develop key philosophical skills: the ability to formulate arguments, consider and respond to objections and to evaluate the merits of different positions.
