Besides keeping you informed of what´s going on in the Department, we are also hoping that this page will encourage you to keep in touch with us, so that we can find out what you have been up to since leaving University. We are going to produce a regular Departmental Newsletter for alumni, which we will send out electronically via the University´s alumni list. This University´s alumni page includes the "Sheffield Reunited" on line alumni directory, which is designed to help ex-students to keep in touch with one another. If you do not receive the University Alumni magazine - "Your University" - you can update your details on line, and that will ensure that you are included on the University's alumni mailing list.
Centenary Celebrations
2010 was the Philosophy Department´s centenary. To celebrate one hundred years of philosophy at Sheffield current members of the Department organized a centenary event on Saturday 11th September. The event took place at Mappin Hall and included short talks from past and present members of the Department, and an opportunity for the alumni to look at what is new on the University campus, including a visit to the Department´s new home at 45 Victoria Street. The day provided a great opportunity to share memories of the Department over its long and successful past, and was much enjoyed by those who attended.

We have also produced a Departmental Time Line, to give a visual impression of the growth of the Department over the preceding century and to gather together a convenient record of the various philosophers who have worked in the Department over that time.
