PSO Support
Planning and Governance Services (PGS) provides Specialist expertise, guidance and support to Senior Managers including members of UEB, Faculty PVCs, Directors of Faculty Operations (DFOs), and Heads of academic departments regarding corporate and strategic planning. Using specialist planning skills and an understanding of how corporate priorities and goals are being applied in academic departments we provide an overview of a faculty or department's strategy and performance, and we support informed business analysis and planning.
Support for Faculties
Faculties, and the academic departments within them, will be supported directly by a named PSO, who can call on their own knowledge and experience relating to that faculty and the wider expertise of Planning & Governance Services (PGS). As well as acting as a first point of contact, PSOs will also liaise with other professionals across a range of support service departments in order to provide a holistic and coordinated approach to planning and faculty support.
Each Department is assigned a Planning Support Officer (PSO) to provide specialist expertise, guidance and support throughout the Planning Round. The PSO is expected to provide:
- effective and timely customer care as the first point of contact for Heads of Department and for Directors of Faculty Operations (DFOs)
- accurate dissemination of policy advice to Heads of Department and DFOs
- support to Heads of Department and Faculty Executive Boards in progressing through the stages of the Planning Round and in meeting deadlines
- critical and analytical support to Heads of Department and Faculty Executive Boards in the development of strategy and growth/change options
- help in resolving technical queries associated with Planning Round submissions
- effective liaison with other professionals across a range of Professional Services staff
- accurate planning information to University committees about specific faculties and departments.
