Professor Sir Harold Kroto in Kroto Institute


Professor Sir Harold Kroto, currently based at The Florida State University Tallahassee, is an alumnus of The University of Sheffield. In 1996 he was awarded the Nobel Prize in chemistry for his discovery of fullerenes, a form of carbon.

On Friday 3 June 2005 he named the University's new Kroto Research Institute on North Campus and gave a public lecture on the future of nanotechnology.
