Delays in Student Finance England loans and grants

Due to the delays many students may be arriving at University without their full loan and grant support. We have put in place the following support processes:
Accommodation payments
If students are staying in University Accommodation and are worried they will not have sufficient funds to pay for their first term accommodation on the 1st October, they should contact residencefees@sheffield.ac.uk, tel 0114 2224868, or call into the Income Office, Level 6, University House before the 1st October payment date to rearrange a payment date until after they have received their full loan and grant.

Students staying in private accommodation will need to negotiate with their landlords re payment (help and advice available from Student Advice Centre).
Advice and Support
Students who are concerned about how they have been assessments can get help and advice from the Students Union Advice Centre, in the union building or calling 0114 222 8660 or

Short Term Loans
Students in hardship due to the delays will be able to apply for a short term loan by making an appointment by calling into SSiD. More information at

Bursaries
Students will not receive a full bursary assessment until Student Finance England have carried out a full means tested assessment. Contact the Financial Support Team for more information.
