| Sheffield is a centre of particular research and clinical excellence for Non-Epileptic Attack Disorder (NEAD), a condition characterised by episodes which resemble epileptic seizures but are not associated with abnormal electrical activity in the brain. NEAD is one of the commonest differential diagnoses of epilepsy. It is as disabling as epilepsy and as common as multiple sclerosis. More information about NEAD can be found at www.nonepilepticattacks.info. Further information about ongoing research in NEAD in Sheffield can also be found at www.sheffield.ac.uk/nest. |
