"This course has allowed me a great amount of freedom to follow my own interests. The tutors genuinely care about their subject, and about the students who will be its future."

Mary Rogers
MA (2010)

The course tutors, Andrew Killick, Simon Keegan-Phipps and Kathleen Noss Van Buren, have taught and published widely in the areas of ethnomusicology and world musics. Postgraduate teaching and research in ethnomusicology is well established at Sheffield, with the department also offering a site-based MA in Ethnomusicology and supporting numerous research students working on world music projects. The distance learning programmes make the considerable research and teaching expertise that the department can offer available to those whose circumstances prevent them from studying full-time.
