Messiaen exhibition

Visit the exhibition of Messiaen's life and work at the Exhibition Space, Jessop West, 1 Upper Hanover Street. Not only is it a wonderfully innovative audio-visual exhibition, but it also showcases the way the Exhibition Space, a separate space connected to the new build Jessop West, can be used.

The Messiaen exhibition is free of charge, and is open every day, 10.00-16.00 until Friday 12 June.

It is part of the Faculty of Arts season of art, music and literature.

Olivier Messiaen was one of the great originals of twentieth century music. His musical inspiration came from a variety of unusual sources including colour, birdsong and the wonders of nature. In this innovative exhibition, Nigel Simeone presents some glimpses into the life and work of Olivier Messiaen, exploring themes such as his religious faith, his little-known private and family life, his relationship with nature, his work as a teacher, his composing methods, his most personal and important works, his collaboration with particular performers, and his enduring legacy.
