13 March 2007 "Crossing Continents": concert in Firth Hall 20 MarchCrossing Continents: a cutting edge composition and performance exchange between British and Australian musicians. The concert given in Firth Hall on March 20 features new work by each of the Music Department's three staff composers, together with music by Roger Smalley and Jim Ledger of the University of Western Australia, Perth. Peter Cropper (violin), George Nicholson (piano) and Adrian Moore (sound diffusion) are joined by Darryl Poulsen (horn) for the first performances of Dorothy Ker's diffracted terrains: duo ii for violin, horn and piano resonance, George Nicholson's Caesura for horn trio, Adrian Moore's electroacoustic 3 Pieces: Horn/Piano/Violin and a new work by Jim Ledger for solo horn. The concert also features Roger Smalley's Horn Trio, with the composer at the piano, and Adrian Moore's Piano piece (for Peter). |
