Stephanie Pitts "Valuing Musical Participation" (Ashgate, 2005) presents four case studies of adult performers, composers and listeners, including participants at a contemporary music school and the audience at a chamber music festival. Drawing on empirical data and a wide range of literature, the book considers the contribution that music makes to the everyday lives of participants.
