MA Crossways in Cultural Narratives (Mundus)
The Crossways in Cultural Narratives is an EU-supported multidisciplinary, multilingual Masters programme. It is currently designed and taught by a consortium of six top European universities:
- Sheffield (England)
- Bergamo (Italy)
- Lisbon (Portugal)
- Perpignan (France)
- St Andrews (Scotland)
- Santiago de Compostela (Spain)
The programme
The MA offers a programme of European languages, cultures and literatures.
The major discipline is Literature, with a resolutely comparative approach based on the English, French, Spanish, Italian, Portugese and German linguistic realms. The programme also integrates courses in Aesthetics, the History of Ideas, Semiotics, Linguistics and Communication.
Modules were selected in relation to a common theme across the Mundus Masters programme: cultural crossways and hybridisation.
The Sheffield focus is: "Texts and Contexts", examining literary, discursive and cinematographic texts from the French, Iberian, English, German and Russian cultural arenas in their respective socio-historic contexts.
