School Process for Ethical Review of Non NHS Projects

In line with the University Research Ethics Policy the Medical School has produced its own Ethics Review Process. This applies to all student and staff projects involving human participants, data and tissue, but not the NHS. Download a copy of the process and flowchart from the links on the right.

The process requires project proposals to be reviewed by nominated Ethics Reviewers. If these reviewers cannot decide whether or not to approve a project a School Research Ethics Review Panel can be convened. Dr Chris Newman is Chair of this panel.

More information relating to applications for School Research Ethics Review, reviewers and student projects can be accessed via the right hand links.

The School has nominated three Research Ethics Advisors and a Research Ethics Administrator to act as the first point of contact for queries. Members of the School Research Ethics Review Panel can also be contacted for advice. Their details are available in the contacts section via the right hand link.
