Principal equipment in the facility
- Agilent 2100 bioanalyser to examine RNA integrity and concentration.
- Affymetrix Gene Chip hybridisation system.
- Nanodrop spectrophotometer.
- Agilent array hybridisation system
Whilst the most common use of the system is expression analysis, looking at the level of expression of many different genes or mRNA species in a sample at the same time, there are now available chips for several other protocols. These include SNP analyses, resequencing – including a human mitochondrial genome chip, exon arrays for the analysis of alternative splicing and arrays for ChIP on chip experiments for the investigation of gene promoters. Arrays are available for many different organisms. We offer full technical support, according to manufacturer's protocols, in the preparation and running of your samples.
Whilst we do not currently offer full Bioinformatic support we can offer access to and training in using the Gene Spring software package from Agilent which allow preliminary data analysis of the data produced in a microarray experiment.
We would recommend that if you are considering a microarray based experiment you contact Paul Heath at the address above to discuss your requirements and for further information including details on pricing.
