The Cardiovascular Pathway

The taught "pathways" programmes run from late January until mid-March. This is followed by a "Project Presentation" module and five-month Laboratory Project module. These two modules will be appropriate to your choice of pathway.

The Cardiovascular pathway is intended for students who are interested in exploring the experimental techniques that are at translational cardiovascular science.

MED6050 “Vascular Cell Biology” (10 credit) This module explores the molecular mechanisms underlying cardiovascular disease and introduces the students to basic knowledge on which the following modules are based.
MED6051 “Experimental Models of Vascular Disease” (10 credit) The module examines hypothesis driven approaches to understanding molecular and cellular mechanisms of cardiovascular disease.
MED6052 “Vascular Disease Therapy and Clinical Practice” (10 credit) The module examines how basic science is translated into clinical practice and therapy.
MED6053 “Project Presentation/Genetics Pathway” (10 credit) teaches you how to be involved in a scientific meeting, make a presentation and organise a description of your pathway-appropriate project.
MED6054 “Laboratory Project/Genetics Pathway” (60 credit) introduces you to doing science; working on your own project, with supervision, in a research laboratory.
