Where our graduates go

Success in the MSc in Molecular Medicine is a good training for beginning a PhD and many of our students have chosen this route.

The diagram breaks down their destination according to how the students funded themselves to do the MSc.

In 2009 and 2010, overseas students who were funded through the MSc by their home institutions or by government funding accessed further funding from the same source for their PhD education.

In 2009 and 2010, all overseas PhD students who funded themselves privately through their MSc, competed for PhD positions with all applicants.

These students are currently funded by the host institution and/or a research grant to that institution. Those remaining in Sheffield also successfully competed with other overseas students for extra funding to cover the overseas PhD fee.

Data for the 2009-2010 class are still far from complete but indicate that PhD studentships remain a major choice for our graduates.
