Fundraising students add `sparkle´ to 13-mile Spiderwalk

Students at the University of Sheffield recently donned their walking boots and lit up their sparklers for a 13-mile night walk through Sheffield and the peaks, raising over £6,000 for local charities.

In a new take on the Union of Students' now legendary Spiderwalk, 300 students, including members of societies and sports clubs, as well as a few members of staff, combined the month´s Bonfire celebrations with the half-marathon trek.

The event, which is normally held annually, forms one of many fundraising events organised by the Raising and Giving (RAG) Society at the University of Sheffield, and has in the past raised hundreds of thousands of pounds for local charities.
