Highest ever number of exhibitors scout for graduates

Prestigious national employers will be exhibiting at the University of Sheffield next week for the Yorkshire Autumn Graduate Recruitment Fair. The Fair, which is now in its ninth year, has attracted more exhibitors than ever before and will be held on Tuesday 3 and Wednesday 4 November 2009, from 10.30am until 4pm.

The two day event, which is jointly organised by the Careers Services at the University of Sheffield and Sheffield Hallam University, will play host to over 70 different employers each day. Final year students and graduates from all institutions will be able to meet with representatives recruiting for graduate positions starting in 2010 both regionally, nationally and internationally in a range of fields, including engineering, science, business and management, IT, HR, accounting and finance. In addition, some employers will also have immediate start dates available and day two of the fair will showcase opportunities in the public sector, work in the community and routes into teaching.

Students and graduates will also have the opportunity to find out more information about prospective employers, to ask questions in an informal environment, and to find out how to apply for vacancies. Students in earlier years of study are encouraged to attend to find out about a range of placement and internship opportunities.

Michelle Dexter, Fairs Manager, said: "Over 140 recruiters will be present at this event, which is the highest ever number of exhibitors and this is particularly encouraging in view of the current challenging graduate recruitment market.

"With the wide variety of courses offered at the University of Sheffield and Sheffield Hallam University, we are delighted to see such a broad range of employers attending. This really allows us to meet the needs of students and graduates from the majority of degree disciplines, which is great news."

Sheffield Universities Recruitment Fairs recognise the particular needs of disabled students and will endeavour to facilitate participation in all events organised. The venue for the Yorkshire Autumn Graduate Recruitment Fair (The Octagon Centre) is fully accessible by wheelchair. However, it is important to be aware that at peak times the venue does become very crowded and we recommend visiting in the afternoon.
