Profile

Hua Wei Kevin Huang received his BEng degree in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Manchester (attended UMIST and graduated on the year of merge between Manchester and UMIST) in 2005. He then pursued a PhD in Aerospace Engineering immediately after receiving his undergraduate degree, and was a recipient of the OSS (Overseas Student Scholarship, three years full tuition with additional maintenance funds) scholarship from Manchester during PhD degree, of which he successfully completed in July 2009. During this time, he pioneered and demonstrated the applicability of the concept for digital colour-based modelling characterisation of flame radiation features. His original journal publication of digital flame colour diagnostic was selected as one of Measurement Science and Technology’s highlight publications in 2008. Dr. Huang joined the University of Sheffield in December 2009 and was instrumental in the setup of the Combustion and Flow Diagnostics Laboratory (MB26/A), as well as the design, manufacturing and assembly of a fully operational, optical-viewing access modified Siemens combustor rig at Prof. Chris Wilson’s departmental satellite LCCC facility in Beighton.
