Coming to one of our open days is a great chance to find out more about the department, meet the staff and students, see our facilities and get a feel for the University of Sheffield and the city as a whole.
There are two different types of open days: University Open Days, which you can attend before you apply, and Departmental Open Days, which we will invite you to after you've applied.
Before you apply
The University of Sheffield runs a series of open days throughout the summer, and half-term visit days in October, so that students who are interested in coming here can take a look around.
You can book a visit to the School of Mathematics and Statistics by clicking the link below, choosing a date and selecting one of the Mathematics and Statistics talks.
As well as attending a talk where you can find out more about our courses, you will be able to take a tour of the department where you can talk to staff and students about our teaching and research, see our teaching areas, plus some of our other facilities.
You can also take campus, accommodation and city tours, and attend talks on subjects including accommodation, finance, dual degrees and studying abroad.
After you apply
For most of our degrees, once you've applied for a place with us, you'll be invited to a Departmental Open Day. Offers are usually made based on your UCAS application form, but only after you've been invited to the Departmental Open Day. Below is a typical itinerary:
10am to 1.30pm: Time to explore the University campus, Students Union and visit the Student Accommodation
In the meantime, watch the video above to find out more about Sheffield.
The University's travel pages explain the best ways to get here. Parking is limited around the University but it is very easy to get to the campus by the Supertram, either from the railway or bus station, or using one of the Park and Ride facilities on the way into the city.
