MSc in Mathematics
Interested in mathematics and looking for a challenge? This course will help prepare you for your career or further research.

The MSc in Mathematics is a 1 year full-time course introducing students to advanced topics in pure and applied mathematics. There is a wide range of modules to choose from, reflecting the many strengths of the School of Mathematics and Statistics at the University of Sheffield, e.g. in algebra, geometry, topology, number theory, fluid dynamics and solar physics. In addition to attending lectures, students get hands-on research experience through writing a dissertation under the guidance of a research-active supervisor. The programme is a development of our MSc in Statistics and MMath in Mathematics, both of which have been running successfully for many years. The courses run from late September to late September in the following year.
For further information about the programme, please email Dr Tobias Berger, the Admissions Tutor for the MSc in Mathematics.
