Bernard Argent joined the Department as an undergraduate in 1950 and apart from a year as a Fulbright Fellow at the University of California at Berkeley has spent his academic career at The University of Sheffield. For six years he was a member of the British Council´s Advisory Committee on Engineering and Technology and is currently a Guardian and Member of the Executive Committee of Sheffield Assay Office.
Research Interests
These are broadly-based and have covered a wide variety of topics ranging from
- Experimental determination and computation of thermodynamic properties and phase diagrams for metals, alloys, glasses and ceramics.
- Process engineering topics involved in the materials and energy industries including environmental issues.
