University Open Day

The Times Higher survey 2011 says we're the university most people would recommend to a friend. Find out why students love Sheffield by coming along to one of our University Open Days. They're open to everyone.

Our department holds talks throughout the day where you can learn more about us, careers and the courses you're interested in. Afterwards you can chat to our staff and students and have a look round our facilities.

University Open Days

Department open day

If we offer you a place on a course, we'll invite you to a department open day. This is your chance to get to know our department better and meet some of our staff and students. We'll answer any questions you might have about your course, career prospects, student life in Sheffield and other things that matter.

You can take a tour of our state-of-the-art facilities. We'll also show you round the University – the campus, accommodation and our award-winning Students' Union.

Informal interview

The visit includes an informal interview with a member of our academic staff. You don't need to prepare for this, bring anything with you or dress smartly.

It's a chance for us to learn more about you and your interests in engineering. We'll also ask you to talk us through some simple questions about the properties and uses of materials, so that we can assess your powers of reasoning and how well you can apply your existing knowledge to unfamiliar situations.
