Further success for Engineering Materials in RAE 2008
Engineering Materials continues to be one of the best Materials Departments in the UK. ALL of our research activity was rated equal to and higher than 2* (the ratings in RAE 2008 are as follows):
4* Quality that is world-leading in terms of originality, significance and rigour.
3* Quality that is internationally excellent in terms of originality, significance and rigour but which nonetheless falls short of the highest standards of excellence.
2* Quality that is recognised internationally in terms of originality, significance and rigour.
The Department submitted ALL its academic staff to RAE 2008 (38.4 full time equivalent (FTE) staff), an increase of 86.5% from the 20.6 FTE submitted in the last RAE (2001).
