John Wright

John´s professional and management background is in manufacturing industry, where he spent 22 years in research and development and project management as a chartered engineer, followed by 10 years in senior management, responsible for the strategic electrical engineering interests of a blue chip multi-national PLC in the UK. During this period he gained significant experience in systems design and development and published research papers in a variety of engineering journals.

He also trained and mentored newly appointed graduate trainees. He holds degrees in two disciplinary areas. His undergraduate degree is in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, and his master´s degree is in Business Studies. In recent years he has applied his expertise to providing bespoke data analysis services, knowledge based systems and on-site IT training to a variety of organisations, working as an Independent Consultant.

Teaching

Alongside this professional consulting activity, John holds a Teaching Fellow role at the Management School. His work here is with undergraduates, lecturing and tutoring in the areas of quantitative methods, business statistics and operations management. Because of his significant and wide-ranging experience in industry, he has been able to develop an integrated approach to under-pinning theory and practitioner-based problem solving in the learning process. This is greatly appreciated by the student body.
