Biographical Review
In the time he has been at the Management School, Alan Murray has established a reputation at an international level in the field of Corporate Responsibility, and an important work has recently been published by Oxford University Press (see below). In 2006 he became the founding Chair of the British Academy of Management Special Interest Group (SIG) in CSR and, in association with other members of the SIG, he continues to take a lead in developing and widening the community of researchers and teachers of CR in the UK by organizing conferences and workshops to promote high quality research and teaching in the field.
He played a major part in the recent successful bid for an ESRC Seminar Series on CSR where, in collaboration with colleagues from Cass, York, Lancaster, the ICAEW, and the British Library, envisioned as a series of innovative and provocative debates involving UK professional bodies, government policy representatives and industry leaders from the UK and abroad. Four seminars have already been held, at the British Library in December 2008, at the York Management School in March 2009, at the Cass Business School in June 2009, and at St Andrews University School of Management in September 2009. The next Seminar will be at the Lancaster University Management School on 8 January 2010, and the final seminar will take place at the HQ of the ICAEW on 25 March 2010.
