MSc in Work Psychology
The MSc Course in Work Psychology was introduced in 2008 and provides a route for those students without a BPS-recognised psychology degree. This programme is not accredited by the BPS and therefore cannot be used for their chartership route.
You study six core modules in personnel selection and development, training and well-being, organisational behaviour, work systems and human factors, research and statistics. The course is taught by staff of the Institute of Work Psychology (IWP) an international centre of excellence with one of the largest groups of organisational psychology academics in Europe and a world-class reputation.
We are committed to increasing understanding of occupational wellbeing and effectiveness and identifying factors leading to their enhancement. We work with a wide range of public and private sector organisations and act as an advisory body to many practitioners, professional bodies and policymakers.
Teaching styles used on the course are participative and interactive. Teaching is structured around case study and workshop activities in order to ensure that your learning is both active and relevant to modern organisations. We want you to develop a reflective approach to occupational psychology and to develop a knowledgeable and critical understanding of relevant empirical and theoretical research. In addition, there is a real focus on ensuring that you acquire practical skills for the workplace.

Course Structure
Profile of typical candidate
The MSc course in Work Psychology was introduced in 2008 and provides a route for those students without a BPS-recognised psychology degree (i.e., those who do not have the Graduate Basis of Registration).
It is important to note that the content and assessment of the MSc course in Work Psychology is exactly the same as the MSc in Occupational Psychology; the difference is that the Work Psychology qualification is not accredited by the BPS and therefore cannot be used for their chartership route.

An upper second class degree (2:1) or first in a degree containing reasonable coverage of psychology, research methods and statistics topics. Applicants through this route do not need the Graduate Basis of Registration from the British Psychological Society (BPS). IELTS is our preferred test of language. You need an IELTS score of 7, with at least 6 in all the component tests. If you are unable to sit the IELTS, you should take TOEFL. You need iBT 100, with a minimum component score of 23. |
