MSc in International Management

This programme combines academic rigour with practical business skills to give you a world-class international business education. You’ll gain a good critical understanding of specific challenges and opportunities facing multinationals and organisations in key regions of the world. The combined expertise of the Management School and the University’s internationally-renowned School of East Asian Studies, give you an in-depth understanding of styles of business in expanding East Asia, as well as traditional English-speaking and European markets.

Your core modules include international business strategy, international management, European business, and you can choose between either the East Asian Economic Miracle or Investing in East Asia. You can tailor your programme to your interests by choosing from a wide range of modules including marketing, branding, strategic management and employee performance or you can study a European or East Asian languages including Japanese, Chinese or Korean.

Students completing the MSc in International Management also qualify for the Chartered Management Institute's Advanced Diploma in Management, which means you can work towards the Chartered Manager qualification conferred by the CMI.

Profile of typical candidate

You need a good first degree in business or management (single or dual), the motivation to add an international dimension to your knowledge and a desire to gain a critical appreciation of management principles and practice. Learning from a broad range of experts, you’ll gain a qualification ideally suited to prepare you for a role in a multinational company. This course will provide an excellent grounding in the real-world challenges and opportunities of doing business across the world.

Entry specification

Fees

You will need a good degree in business or management (either single or dual, 2:1 or higher) or approved professional qualification combined with a desire to add an international dimension to your knowledge. You do not need prior management experience in the workplace.

IELTS is our preferred test of language. You need an IELTS score of 7, with at least 6 in all the component tests.

If you are unable to sit the IELTS, you should take TOEFL. You need iBT 100, with a minimum component score of 23.

Course Fees for 2013-4 are:

  • GBP 9,000 for EU Students
  • GBP 16,500 for non-EU Students

Alumni of the University are entitled to a scholarship of £1,000 (reduction in fee charged) if they choose to remain at the University to study for a Masters programme.
