Peter Beeby

MD, Engage and Share Limited

In 1988 shortly after completing a BEd degree, Peter co-founded Sportasia, a start-up company supplying promotional clothing to clubs and companies. Sportasia spawned a schoolwear company, School Trends, which grew quickly to become UK market leader in the supply of school-specific uniform.

School Trends is based on the outskirts of Sheffield and currently supplies school uniform to around 6,000 UK schools and employs 130 people. In 2005, 2006 and 2007 School Trends was recognised in the Sunday Times 100 Best Workplaces survey.

In November 2004 Peter oversaw the transfer of School Trends into employee ownership. This was seen as a natural progression for the company given its commitment to employee participation and engagement. He continued as its senior executive until June 2009, when he moved to a non-exec, part-time role to allow time to pursue other projects and interests.

Peter is now Managing Director at Engage & Share Limited,

Peter sits as an advisory board member of Sheffield University Management School and a non-executive director of Sheffield University SIFE (Students in Free Enterprise). He was invited by the Blair government to participate in a 'blue-sky' education strategy group chaired by the then Junior Education Minister, David Milliband. He is a former Chairman of Sheffield FC, the world's oldest football club.
