CINAHL via EBSCO Cumulative index to nursing and allied health literature, providing authoritative coverage of literature related to these subjects. Part of the OvidSP service. Available on both University and NHS computer networks.
MEDLINE The most extensive international health care database. Part of the OvidSP service. Available on both University and NHS computer networks.
PubMED Offers free access to MEDLINE.
Cochrane Library Database of systematic reviews to support evidence-based healthcare.

ASSIA Applied social sciences index and abstracts: a useful source for social issues particularly within the fields of mental health and learning disabilities. University network only.
Social Care Online This service includes a database of full-text Department of Health circulars dating from 1995 onwards. Useful for community nursing and social care. University network only.
National research register Current research and development projects in the NHS with free Internet access.
PsycINFO International literature in psychology, psychiatry and related fields. Particularly useful for mental health nursing. Available via OvidSP on the University network and through the Ovid service on the NHS intranet. The Ovid version requires ATHENS registration.
Web of Science Large multi-disciplinary database with subject and citation indexes. Available on the University network only through the Web of Knowledge.
