Use StarPlus to find online and print materials including books, journals and databases. The Information Commons is where you'll find many of the books recommended for your modules. In some cases these will also be available as ebooks. The IC provides a range of study environments, including bookable group study rooms and silent study space.

ASM Handbooks Online - Access the complete content of 30 ASM Handbooks and selected ASM Handbook supplements
ASME Digital Collection - Access journals, conference proceedings and e-books published by the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME). Topics include design and manufacturing, emerging technologies, energy and power and tribology.
ASTM standards and engineering digital library - search for standards, special technical publications and manuals published by ASTM. The digital library covers a broad range of engineering disciplines including aerospace, biomedical, chemical, materials science, mechanical and civil.
Construction Information Service (CIS) - literature on building, landscape, structural design and sustainability.
ESDU - an engineering knowledge base giving access to validated design methods and data to help solve complex engineering problems.
IEEE Xplore - Search for journal articles, e-books, standards and conference proceedings published by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and its publishing partners.
IET Digital Library - Access to e-books, selected journal titles and conference proceedings published by the Institution of Engineering and Technhology (IET). Topics include radar, power and energy, control engineering and telecommunications.
SAE Mobilus - Find current technical papers, standards, reports, magazines and e-books from SAE International on a variety of topics across the aerospace, automotive and commercial vehicle sectors.

Scopus - abstract and citation database which offers a comprehensive overview of international research output in the many academic fields.

Web of Science - research platform which enables simultaneous cross-searching of a range of citation indexes and databases.

Aqualine - contains trade, technical and scientific literature concerning all aspects of water resources. Topics include portable water distribution and water treatment technologies. The following resources are freely available on the web:
Chemical Database Service – variety of databases in the field of chemistry. Aerade - aerospace and defence information sources created worldwide.
Environmental Sciences and Pollution Management - find literature on technological and engineering aspects of air, water and soil quality, environmental safety, sustainability and energy production. arXiv - repository of research papers in the sciences. Subjects include physics, mathematics, computer science and quantitative biology
Biological Sciences - search over 8,000 journals, conference proceedings and technical reports covering topics including biomedicine, biotechnology and bioengineering. Espacenet – worldwide patent information.
International Nuclear Information System (INIS) – index of nuclear information hosted by the IAEA. Intellectual Property Office (IPO) - official government body responsible for granting Intellectual Property (IP) rights in the UK.
Mintel - market intelligence information including MBD industrial reports. TechXtra - articles, websites, industry news and technical reports in engineering and computer science.
Technology Research Database (Proquest) – indexes literature on technology and applied science including materials science, aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, civil engineering, computer science and electronic engineering. UK Research Data Discovery portal -

TRADA - Timber Research and Development Association - includes access to the wood species database, TRADA Construction Briefings, case studies and detail drawings.
