Library holdings and searching the catalogue for East Asian Studies

Books or pamphlets in English relating to East Asia in general are normally shelved in the ordinary Western Bank Library sequences.

Material in English relating wholly or principally to one country is shelved in the collection specific to the country in question, alongside the vernacular material on the same subject.

Periodicals holdings in all languages appear in the StarPlus catalogue.

All material in one of the vernacular languages is shelved together, whatever the subject matter. However, microform materials are shelved in the Western Bank Library microform sequences.

English and vernacular languages
English It is extremely important to use the StarPlus catalogue to check locations of non-vernacular items, since material covering more than one country in East Asia is likely to be shelved in the ordinary WBL sequences.
