Main databases
Bibliography of Asian Studies online (1971 onwards) Contains more than 519,000 references to western-language monographs, articles and book chapters on all parts of Asia published worldwide from 1971 to the present. The paper copy is at WBL Level 4: Per 905 (1969-1991). Formerly known as the Journal of Asian Studies, at WBL Level 4: Per 905 (1960-1968).
ASSIA (Applied social sciences index and abstracts) Covers the whole area of social sciences from 1987 to date.
IBSS via Proquest International Bibliography of the Social Sciences. One of the largest social science databases in the world, it covers 2,600 international journals and around 6,000 books a year in economics, sociology, politics and anthropology.
Arts & humanities citation index (via Web of Knowledge) Articles indexed from 1981 to date.
Social sciences citation index (via Web of Knowledge) This is useful when you have found a good article and would like to see if other authors have quoted it. It may also be used for more conventional subject searching: beginners usually concentrate on searching by using author name and title words.

ATLA religion database Large index to all types of relevant literature on religions.
PsycINFO International literature in psychology, psychiatry and related fields.
ERIC Indexes and abstracts journal articles, reports and conference papers covering major educational and education-related topics. Coverage is mainly American.
China Academic Journals Web Searchable catalogue of Chinese academic journals, from the China National Knowledge Infrastructure.
Japan Knowledge Plus Multi-source reference database of Japanese history, society, language and culture.

Mintel - market research reports Offers not only market intelligence information but also a range of statistical materials and associated news services.
Emerald Management Reviews Full text articles, and independent reviews of articles from a wide range of academic, trade and popular journals relevant to accountancy, economics, business and marketing.
EconLit Includes coverage of over 400 major journals as well as some conference proceedings, books, book reviews and dissertations.
Financial Times via NewsBank Searchable full text of the UK final edition of the Financial Times from 1992 to date.

Theses and dissertations
Index to theses Contains bibliographical information on theses accepted for higher degrees. Current coverage is 1716 to date.
Dissertation abstracts Information about past doctoral dissertations and master's theses.
