What assistive technology is available?
The Library has a portable text / image magnifier. Its camera unit is simply connected to a Library laptop via a USB port and the magnified text or image is displayed on the laptop screen.
All functions are handled directly from the keyboard or a separate remote control box. A user guide listing the functions is available from the Quick links.
The equipment is normally stored at Western Bank Library but can be transferred for use in the Information Commons or any Library site, if required. Please ask a member of Library staff if you wish to use it.

The magnifier offers the following functions:
- Text, image or object magnification at close range or at a distance
- High contrast negative / positive picture, colour modes and natural colours for both near and distant viewing
- Screen image capture
- Autofocus
- Different split screen modes
- Movable line marker
