Library support for customers with mental health needs

What if the Library is not accessible to me?

If the Library is not accessible to you, you may like to contact the following for advice on what help may be available to you.
  • University of Sheffield students - Disability and Dyslexia Support Service, Hillsborough Centre, Alfred Denny Building, Tel: (0114) 2221303, Email: disability.info@sheffield.ac.uk
  • University of Sheffield staff - your departmental HR adviser or HR assistant http://www.shef.ac.uk/hr/aboutus/
  • NHS staff - your HR adviser
  • External borrowers - your usual source of help

What if I don’t want to explain why I am asking for help?

If you prefer not to have to inform Information Commons or Library staff why you are requesting extra help, a “registered for additional support” card can be provided. Please see “Requesting assistance”.

What if I have difficulty with managing my Library loans?

Please refer to the Additional Support home page for information about loan management. You may also like to ask the departments listed above for advice on strategies to help you.

Can I meet my mentor in private in the Information Commons/ Library?

The Additional Support Service is continually addressing the requirements of disabled and dyslexic students. Unfortunately, however, due to shortage of office space, neither the Information Commons nor any library site is currently able to offer rooms for your individual mentoring sessions.

How can I contact the Additional Support Service?

If you would like further information on any aspect of the service, please contact the Library's Additional Support Service by:
