Can someone else borrow Library material for me?

Yes. If the Information Commons or Library is not accessible to you and you would like someone else to borrow items on your behalf, please email lib-support@sheffield.ac.uk. Depending on your preference, we will provide your Library Support Worker with either a card or a letter to enable them to do this. They will never need to use your UCard, although they could be asked to provide proof of their own identity.

What is the difference between a Library Support Worker card and letter?

The Library Support Worker card bears your UCard number. Providing you are willing to tell your Library Support Worker your Library PIN, they can independently during both staffed and self-service hours:

The card can also be used to have reserved books issued by Library staff at sites other than the IC during staffed hours.

The Library Support Worker letter can be used, during staffed hours, to have:

It is also used for photocopying and printing on your behalf by your Library Support Worker.

What if my UCard has to be replaced?

If your UCard has to be replaced for any reason, please email lib-support@sheffield.ac.uk and we will provide a new Library Support Worker card or letter.

What if I no longer employ my Library Support Worker?

If your Library Support Worker is no longer employed by you, please inform the Library immediately by emailing lib-support@sheffield.ac.uk

What if I have fines on my Library account?

If you have fines exceeding £10 on your Library account, your Library Support Worker will not be able to borrow for you until this limit is no longer exceeded.
