Access for customers with mobility difficulties: Royal Hallamshire Hospital
Is the Royal Hallamshire Hospital Library (RHHL) accessible?
The main entrance to the Royal Hallamshire Hospital is on Floor B and the Health Sciences Library is located on Floor C. The Hospital entrance doors are automatic and there are numerous lifts to then take you to Floor C.
Please check with the Hospital (telephone number 0114 271 1900) for the most up-to-date information on accessible parking.
A turnstile entrance is in operation at the RHHL. Library staff will be happy to open the access gate for you on entry and exit.
Between April and September 2012, the RHHL will be reconfigured and refurbished. Although a core book collection and current issues of journals will be retained and available to customers during normal opening hours, space between the shelves will be very limited and may not be accessible to wheelchair users. However, Library staff will be happy to fetch from the shelves any material you need. You can also use the Reservations service to arrange for books to be transferred to another Library site for collection. (Please see Requesting items in the See also box.)
Emergency evacuation - where do I go?
If an intermittent fire alarm sounds, you may remain in the Library.
However, whenever you hear a continuous fire alarm, you must evacuate the Library.
