Reference management
Referencing correctly is necessary to avoid plagiarism and is an important part of academic writing. Reference management software such as EndNote is a tool for collecting, storing and managing bibliographic references, and incorporating them into academic writing using different referencing styles.
The Library recommends EndNote Web for new users. It is web-based and currently available without charge to all members of the University of Sheffield.
We also support EndNote X3 on the CiCS Managed Desktop for those with more advanced requirements (from the Windows Start button, select 'Applications' - you may need to select 'Load Application menus' first).
The latest version of EndNote (for Windows or Mac) can be purchased from CiCS for use on your personal computer.
For support specific to versions of EndNote other than EndNote X3 or EndNote Web, search the EndNote YouTube training channel or EndNote technical support pages.
