Important information regarding signing in to StarPlus
The University Library goes live with Ex Libris Alma
Registered Staff and Students
On Thursday 20 June, the Library upgraded its systems. As a consequence of this, you now need to use a new PIN at the self-service machines when issuing and renewing items.
You will have received an email from the Library HelpDesk with your new PIN on Thursday 20 June, but if you forget you PIN, please:
- go to https://www.shef.ac.uk/cics/password
- enter your University login name and password
- select option 6 to 'Request Ucard number and PIN'.
Your Ucard number and PIN will then be sent to you by email.
Please note; this Ucard PIN is not changeable.

External borrowers and NHS users
When you go to StarPlus, please:
- click on the 'non-University members' Sign On link (top-right hand corner)
- Enter your Library barcode number in the 'Alma User Number' box
- Enter your surname (with capitalisation of first letter of each word and all punctuation) as the password.
