Vacation Loans Loan periods for Summer Vacation 2012 are now available
University of Sheffield top of Russell Group and region for student experience The University of Sheffield has today (26 April 2012) been named top of the Russell Group and top of the Yorkshire and Humberside region by the Times Higher Education Student Survey.
Students were asked to assess 21 different attributes of their institution including library services for which we ranked joint second in the UK.
Bookable Student PCs in Western Bank Library CiCS has extended its myPC booking system to include 38 computers on Level 6 of Western Bank Library, in the Architecture Section.
Up until now this has only been available in the Information Commons but has proved to be such a popular service they are piloting it in Western Bank Library.  The booking system is just the same, log into MUSE and click on the myPC link in myQuickLinks
St. George's Library 20th Anniversary 2012 St. George’s Library is 20 years old this year. We are celebrating this event with a series of displays and we are hoping to hear from alumni who remember using the new Library in 1992. We’ve set up a Twitter account @SGLat20 and welcome any comments, memories or observations about the St. George’s Library.
Royal Hallamshire Hospital: refurbishment 2012 As part of the Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health’s Medical School redevelopment, the Health Sciences Library (HSL) at RHH will be reconfigured and refurbished during 2012. The refurbishment period will begin on Thursday 29 March

Improving library resources for Arts and Social Sciences The University has made additional money available to the Library in 2011/12 to strengthen our collections for students in the Faculties of Arts & Humanities and Social Sciences. We've already added thousands more ebooks and additional copies of in demand titles to our collections across these subjects. All are listed on our new library catalogue, StarPlus.  If you would like to recommend a book for us to buy, you can fill in the recommendation form at http://www.shef.ac.uk/library/cdfiles/ebookrequest
Welcome to the new Library catalogue - StarPlus

Have a look at our new Library Catalogue, StarPlus. You can search for books and other items in our libraries, as well as electronic and digital material, all from one place. Log in using your University login and password for direct access to full text where it is available and other features such as saved searches. Use the ‘University Collections’ tab for electronic and print books, journals, maps, theses, databases and more. Use the ‘Articles and more’ tab for journal articles from multiple databases. There is also a 'Quick Sets' feature to search predefined subject areas and 'Primo Central' which includes thousands of open access articles and ebooks.
