JapanKnowledge Plus now available, January 2012

JapanKnowledge has been upgraded to JapanKnowledge Plus meaning University of Sheffield customers have access to a much wider range of online resources. These include full text dictionaries, encyclopedias, journals, maps and dissertations, as well as sound and video content.

Web of Knowledge now available on your mobile, November 2011

Web of Knowledge has a new mobile interface which you can access using your personal Web of Knowledge username and password. If you've already created an EndNote Web login for yourself, you can use this to access Web of Knowledge too. Otherwise, follow these instructions to create a personal login. Your new personal login will also work for the full version of Web of Knowledge, which means anywhere, anytime access.

Latest free access campaign from Routledge, November 2011

For 6 weeks, starting from the 3rd November, Routledge are allowing free online access to its complete range of Area studies journals. The latest campaign is entitled Access All Areas and incorporates more than 150 journal titles. 

Upgraded version of SHERPA RoMEO, September 2011

SHERPA Services’ have announced the launch of an upgraded version of SHERPA RoMEO.
The new version contains significant additions including increased journal coverage and data on electronic ISSN’s. Technical upgrades have also made many features work faster and there are more search options.

NetLibrary now eBooks on EBSCOhost, August 2011

NetLibrary ebooks are now available via eBooks on EBSCOhost. The new platform offers an enhanced ebook viewer and the option to cross search our EBSCO ebook collection with our subscribed EBSCO databases, such as America: history and life and Historical abstracts.

New Oxford language dictionaries online - fully searchable bilingual dictionaries, July 2011

University of Sheffield Library customers now have access to language learning resources for Chinese, French, German, Italian, Russian and Spanish via Oxford language dictionaries online.

New Social theory - an extensive selection of documents by major theorists, July 2011

Social theory is now available to University of Sheffield Library customers, bringing together influential writings representing important trends of sociological thought from the eighteenth century to the present.

2010 Journal Citation Reports data available, June 2011

2010 data for Journal Citation Reports is now available via the Web of Knowledge (click on the Additional resources tab). There are approximately 1,075 additional journal titles with their first journal impact factor.

New databases now available, March 2011

A number of databases have been added to the Library's databases A-Z, making these easily accessible for University of Sheffield Library customers. These are: Environmental archaeology bibliography; GrassPortal; Korea Institute for International Economic Policy; Reverso online dictionary; Russian State Library: digital library dissertations; and Tobar an dualchais.

White Rose eTheses Online passes 1000

WREO holds electronic doctoral level theses from the Universities of Leeds, Sheffield and York. As of March 2011, over 1,000 titles have been deposited and are freely available to access. WREO figures from Google Analytics show that the theses are being read worldwide thus promoting the work of the authors to a wider audience outside the UK.
