ProQuest session timeout
Due to browser cookies, timeouts can sometimes cause problems with the links in our A-Z database lists. ProQuest are investigating these problems, which are not unique to the University of Sheffield. In the meantime, please follow the advice below.
If you have been using a ProQuest database and then later (during the same browser session) return to it (or any other ProQuest database) via our A-Z lists, the ProQuest automatic timeout may have occurred and you may see a page which says 'Session Ended. Thank you for using ProQuest. Your session has ended.'
If this happens:
- Click the 'Begin a new session' button
- You should see the main ProQuest basic search page
- Look at the top of the page where it says 'You are searching: [x] databases'. Click 'Change' to see a list of all the available databases
- Click 'Clear all' to deselect all databases, then scroll through the list to find and select the database you want to search. Once you've selected a database (by clicking the box to the left of its title), click the 'Use selected databases' button
- You should now see the basic search page for your chosen database
Further information: ProQuest and ProQuest Dialog are two different services from the same supplier. ProQuest offers 26 databases. It includes ERIC, but not Australian Education Index or British Education Index. ProQuest Dialog offers 3 databases. These are Australian Education Index, British Education Index and ERIC.
