Cochrane library
The databases produced by the Cochrane Collaboration aim "to prepare, maintain and disseminate systematic reviews of the effects of health care". Systematic reviews are prepared using materials and methods which help to reduce the effects of bias and the play of chance. The evidence assembled in them is intended to inform health care decision-making. They are revised as new research results become available and/or as errors are identified.
Cochrane library
The Cochrane library is a collection of seven separate databases. Five of these provide coverage of evidence-based medicine, and the other two provide information on research methodology. The databases are:
- The Cochrane database of systematic reviews - complete reviews and protocols, updated regularly
- The Database of abstracts of reviews of effectiveness - structured abstracts of systematic reviews
- The Cochrane central register of controlled trials - bibliography
- The Cochrane database of methodology reviews - bibliography of systematic reviews and protocols
- The Health technology assessment database - structured abstracts
- The NHS economic evaluation database - structured abstracts
