Bookmarking eResources in your Web browser
You can use your Web browser to directly bookmark eResources from the Library Web pages whether you are on or off campus. This guidance has been written with Firefox & Internet Explorer (IE) in mind as they are the most commonly used browsers at the University.
All eResources are legally & technically protected & to ensure you are recognised as an authorised user when accessing a bookmarked resource, you will need to create all bookmarks in the following way & other methods may not give access:
- Open your preferred browser
- From the A to Z database listings on the Library Web pages, select the required database. You will be taken to a Library Web page about the database. Right click on the ‘Connect to…’ link in the Quick links box & select ‘Add to favourites’ (IE) or ‘Bookmark this link’ (Firefox)
When accessing an eResource via a bookmarked link in your Web browser, you will be asked to log into MUSE as we are legally obliged to authenticate all access. You need only do this once per browser session.
Please note:
- Always bookmark eResources links displayed on the Library Web pages within your Web browser
- This will ensure that you bookmark the most up to date link
- Unless using the Managed Desktop Service, or the MUSE Bookmarks Plus channel (Using MUSE > My Information), or third party software (e.g. Google Bookmarks), bookmarks are not routinely portable from one computer to another
