19th Century British Library Newspapers
The 19th Century British Library Newspapers database contains full runs of 48 influential national and regional newspapers representing different political and cultural segments of the British society. From December 2009 access to an additional 100,000 pages of digitised newspaper content will be available as part of a JISC project to add one million new pages to the database in 2010. The additional content will include selected issues from newspapers from around the UK, including the Sheffield Independent, Bradford Observer & Nottinghamshire Guardian.
Newspaper images can be viewed and either magnified for easier reading, or reduced for on screen navigation. Article images can be saved or printed. It is possible to cross search the 19th Century British Library Newspapers and Burney Newspapers collections. The cross search facility is available directly from this page via the Connect to British newspapers 1600-1900 link in the See Also box, or from within the 19th Century British Library Newspapers database by clicking on Change Databases and selecting British newspapers 1600-1900.
