Academic Profile
"After some time spent in the world of banking, I qualified as a solicitor and as a chartered tax advisor. I practised corporate tax law at a commercial practice in Leeds and latterly with one of the leading accountancy firms. This involved advising on tax issues arising from large corporate and commercial property transactions, and advising clients in litigious tax matters. My clients were mainly leading financial institutions.
I teach on the Legal Practice Course, the Graduate Diploma in Law as well as on various undergraduate courses. My commercial experience from banking and legal practice informs my teaching in all subjects and enables me to bring a different dimension to seminars. It is, of course, particularly essential to my teaching on those courses which lead directly to the legal professions.
I am a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
